Image editing guide
From cropping to choosing an export format, this guide walks through MOKIRI’s main editing tools.
MOKIRI processes images in your browser instead of uploading them to a server. You can edit without an account or upload wait, and your work disappears when you close the tab.
Crop first, settle the image size, then add mosaics, text and shapes before choosing an export format. This keeps added elements from shrinking in a later resize.
Crop
Remove unwanted edges and define the area to keep.
Crop before resizing so you can choose the final dimensions based only on the area you plan to keep.
Steps
- Open Crop.
- Drag out the area to keep.
- Pick a 1:1 or 16:9 preset if needed.
- Drag the corners to fine-tune the selection.
- Apply.
Resize
Change the pixel dimensions for your intended use.
Shrinking an image removes detail, and enlarging it again will not restore sharpness. Resize directly to the target dimensions.
Steps
- Open Resize.
- Enter the target width or height.
- Leave keep-proportions switched on.
- Review the preview.
- Apply.
Worth knowing
- Keep proportions on — Changing the proportions can squash or stretch the image. Leave this setting on unless you need a specific effect.
Mosaic (blur)
Blur a selected area.
MOKIRI’s Mosaic tool blurs the selected area. For sensitive numbers or text, use a solid shape to cover the content completely.
Steps
- Open an image.
- Choose Mosaic.
- Drag over the area to hide.
- Raise the blur strength until the content is difficult to recognise.
- Apply the change.
Worth knowing
- Leave a little margin — Select slightly beyond the target so nothing remains visible at the edges.
Text and shapes
Add text and shapes to an image.
After placing text or a shape, you can still adjust its position, size and colour.
Steps
- Choose the text or shape tool.
- Place it on the canvas (drag to size a shape).
- Set the colour and size.
- Move or rotate it.
- Save the result.
Worth knowing
- Set the image size first — Resizing the image also shrinks the text. Finish resizing before adding it.
- Check the contrast — Use dark colours on light backgrounds and light colours on dark backgrounds.
PNG, JPG and WebP
Choose an export format for your destination.
PNG suits text and transparent backgrounds, while JPG and WebP suit photographs. JPG does not support transparency, and WebP is often useful for reducing file size.
Worth knowing
- GIF keeps only the first frame — You can open a GIF, but its animation is not preserved and you cannot export it as GIF.
- Avoid repeatedly saving JPGs — Saving a JPG as JPG again can accumulate quality loss. When possible, edit from the original and export once.
